Obituary

Amelia “Pauline” Lewis was born on March 15, 1933, to Catherine Isabella and Ivan Stanley Lewis in New York City, New York, and she entered into her final rest on April 20, 2026. She was the youngest of eight children.

Pauline worked for American Airlines for 25 years as a Customer Service Representative. When American Airlines moved its major hub from New York City, she relocated with the company, initially to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and then transferred to the Dallas/Fort Worth offices. She retired from American Airlines in 1987. After her retirement, she worked as a real estate agent and also became a certified property manager for Section 8 housing units in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Pauline loved to travel and took full advantage of her employee flying privileges. She traveled the world, with Spain being her absolute favorite place to visit. She made many friends along her travels, who often became her traveling companions on later excursions and who maintained connections with her long after their travel days ended.

Above all, Pauline will be remembered for her love of crocheting. She was a prolific crochet artisan who created beautiful afghans, sweaters, dresses, dolls, and even winter coats. When she wore one of her crocheted coats, people often complimented it and asked where she had found it. With pride, she always responded, “I made it.” Nearly all of her nephews and nieces have received an afghan she created at some point. She was also an avid sewer and knitter, but crocheting was her joy and love.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and Ivan Lewis, and she was the last survivor of her siblings: Sylvia Renaud, Margorie Jackmon, Betrand Lewis, Reginald Lewis, Ivan Lewis, Sr., Inez McCloud, and Mary Beckford. She was also predeceased by her beloved nephews: Michael Jackman, Ivan Lewis, Jr., Michael Lewis, Stanely (Larry) McCloud, Earl Laycock, and Gregory Lewis, Sr. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory: Arnold Lewis, Jeffrey Jackman, Allen McCloud, Reynold Lewis, Cedric Laycock, Gregory Lewis, Jr., Annamarie Lewis, Angela Lewis, Christine McCloud, and Janet Hager, her nephews and nieces, along with many great and great-great nephews and nieces and their families.

Queen Bey (Beyonce), her most beloved cat and companion, mourns the loss of her loving “Mom”. And finally, the family would like to acknowledge and give abundant thanks to her “adopted niece,” Angie Lester, who spoiled and doted on Aunt Pauline endlessly with great love and care until the end.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 1st, beginning at 1 PM at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 2216 Pot Spring Road, Timonium, MD. Interment to follow immediately in the St. Francis Memorial Garden.
