Obituary

Anastasia Primikirios, age 91, of Ellicott City, Maryland, passed away peacefully on August 13th, 2024. Anastasia was born on the island of Halki, Greece on March 25, 1933, to Nikolaos and Calliopi Chrysovergis. Her beloved husband, Pantelis Primikirios passed away in 2018 after 59 years of marriage. She is survived by her children Dimitrios Primikirios and wife Sandy, Nikolaos Primikirios and wife Irene, and Calliopi Topaltzas and husband Dimitri and her grandchildren, Michael, Anastacia, and Ermioni Topaltzas, and Katerina and Pantelis Primikirios. Anastasia was the fourth of eight children: Maria Akaras (deceased), Konstantinos Chrysovergis (deceased), Kitrakis Chrysovergis (deceased), and Athanasios, Antonis, Georgos, and Stelios Chrysovergis.

Anastasia left Halki in the early 40s and moved to Rhodes, Greece. After completing high school, Anastasia immigrated to Montreal, Canada on a student visa with her brothers. Soon after arriving in Montreal, Anastasia met Pantelis, and they married in 1959. Their three children were born in Montreal, but in pursuit of a better life, Anastasia and Pantelis moved their family to the United States in 1969.

Anastasia began working at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in Baltimore, Maryland as a Greek School teacher in the mid-70s and taught for nearly thirty years. In 2005, Anastasia and Pantelis moved in with Calliopi and spent their remaining years caring for and raising their grandchildren.

Anastasia's love language was food. She was happiest when her family was eating the food she so lovingly prepared for them. She was a devout friend to anyone who needed someone by their side. Through thick and thin, she supported all her lifelong friends. She cared deeply and loved fiercely.

The family will receive friends from 4pm to 6pm on Sunday, August 18th at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093, with a Trisaghion Service at 4:30pm. Ms. Primikirios will lie-in-repose at the Chapel of the Holy Resurrection in the Greek Orthodox Cemetery, 5917 Windsor Mill Road, Baltimore, Maryland on Monday, August 19th from 10:30 to 11:00am, and a funeral service will follow at 11:00am. Interment, Greek Orthodox Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to the Greek School Program at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation or to the Cemetery Fund and the Greek Orthodox Cemetery/Chapel.
