Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Breda peacefully passed away while surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at the age of 86.

Born July 12, 1938 in New York City, Anthony F. Breda was the first of Dionino and Rose Breda's four children. He was soon joined by brothers Joseph and Salvatore and sister Annette. Raised in a Catholic Italian-American household, he attended Cardinal Hayes High School, where he played clarinet in the band, was class president, and earned the nickname Bronco (the story of why is lost to time, but we're sure it's a good one). He met Marguerite Reichle at a party and finally mustered the courage to ask her out a year later. After graduating, he earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from City College of New York. Tony married Marguerite on February 3, 1962. They honeymooned in Haiti and then settled near Albany, New York, where Tony began his career. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for graduate studies in chemistry, joined the Army National Guard and was kept busy raising five children. The young family moved to Baltimore in 1970 and Tony was actively involved in All Saints Catholic Church while also advancing in his career to manage chemical plants. In 1984, Tony's career took him and the family to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where they lived briefly before moving to England for ten years and Belgium for two years. After returning to the U.S. and working in Philadelphia and Georgia, Tony retired and he and Marguerite became full-time RVers, traveling the country and volunteering in wildlife refuges for ten years before settling in Linden, Tennessee. He was a nature lover, an avid reader, a letter writer, and a doting father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Tony moved with Marguerite back to Baltimore in 2018 and eventually settled into an assisted living facility, where he lived until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joe, and sons Mario and Anthony (Peggy Breda). He is survived by his wife, Marguerite, daughters Marguerite, Gabbrielle, Christina (Spiro Antoniades), and son, Matthew (Susan Lilly-Breda). He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For all the blessings in Tony's life, his most cherished was his wife and family!
