Obituary

Arthur Lee Holt was born on March 11, 1922 in San Antonio, Texas to proud parents; Margaret Lee (nee Calloway) and John Berryman Holt.

When Arthur was young, while being driven by his father, he looked out the window and saw workers digging a ditch, and informed his dad that he would like to do that for a living. His dad told him that a job like that required a lot of education and that he needed to get good grades in
school.

Arthur was the valedictorian of his high school class in San Antonio, Texas.

Arthur entered service in the Army Air Corps on August 7, 1942 and became a B24 bombardier. He soon became a lead in the 8th Airforce 44th bomb group with missions over France and Germany. Very few of the bombers had working Norden bomb sites which required a lead bombardier
to radio the other bombers in the squadron to drop their bombs on the intended target. Parts and supplies were often hard to get, and several times when machine guns were out of order, crews used broom sticks in place of machine guns to help fool Germans not to attack their planes. Arthur received the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart, and Air Medals during the war in Europe.

Returning home from the war, Arthur got his Bachelors and Masters degrees of Business Administration from the University of Texas in Austin. Arthur met Ruth Irene Bruce at the University of Texas while getting his Masters Degree in Business Administration, and they soon married.

Arthur and Ruth soon moved to Fairborn, Ohio and later Dayton, Ohio where they raised four children; John David, Fredrick Lee, Paul Joseph, and James Bruce. While in Ohio, Dad received his Ph.D. of Business Administration at Ohio State University, and later taught at Wright State University, University of Cincinnati, and the University of Dayton.

Arthur and Ruth moved to Towson, Maryland, and taught at Towson State University, and after attending law school, he received his Law Degree from the University of Maryland. Arthur passed the Bar in Maryland, Ohio, and Texas. Arthur also got his CPA in Maryland.

Arthur was involved with helping businesses such as PharmaK, Happy Valley, Berceli Foundation, TriPharma Development, Evening in the Seas, and various startup companies.

He later worked for Florida Institute of Technology as Director, at Aberdeen, Maryland, and Picatinny, New Jersey and was involved in several non-profits to help disabled veterans to receive medical help and assistance.

Arthur mentored many students to obtain their degrees in all the schools he taught in Ohio, Maryland, and New Jersey.

He is survived by his four sons John David, Fredrick Lee, Paul Joseph, and James Bruce and their families.

The family will receive friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Saturday, April 29 from 10-12 PM with a Funeral Service to begin at 12 PM. Entombment will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
