Betty Frew, of Street, Maryland, affectionately known as B.J. or "J", passed away on January 30, 2025 at the age of 81.  She was preceded in death by her husband Barney by just two months.  Born in Baltimore, Maryland to Arthur and Josephine Sawyer, B.J. spent her early years working as a lab technician at the University of Maryland Hospital.  She eventually began working at The Greenery Florist, where she mastered her incredible talent in floral design.  During her time there, B.J. made lifelong friends and realized her love of flowers.  In 1980 B.J. opened Petals 'n Posies Florist in Bel Air, which she owned and operated until her retirement in 2020.  Petals 'n Posies acquired a following quickly with costumed balloon delivery...the first of its kind in the area!  B.J. and friends put smiles on so many faces, whether it was with fun balloon presentations or beautiful flower arrangements! She met and married Barney during the initial years of the business.  Together, they grew the business and numerous friendships.  They shared many hobbies and interests, such as attending Maryland Terp football games, Oriole games, trips to Gettysburg and music events with friends.  B.J. had so many talents and thoroughly enjoyed gardening, cooking, knitting and crafts of all kinds.  She was a colorful, unforgettable character who had a unique ability to capture an audience with a great story.

B.J. is survived by her husband's daughter, Judy Jones and her children, Chelsea Woryk (husband, Brendan) and Connor Jones (wife, Diana), and last but not least, her beloved canine companion Willie. She will be dearly missed by many extended family members and friends.
