Betty Angela
Wofford
d. Oct 3, 2026
With hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister Betty Angela Wofford (née Hostinek) of Cockeysville, Maryland on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at home at the age of 83.
Born February 4th, 1943 to Alphonse and Cecil Hostinek, Betty had various residences in Baltimore, Maryland and briefly in Denver, Colorado. Betty graduated from Eastern High School, married her high school sweetheart George "Don" Donaldson Wofford, Jr. on September 7, 1963 and they remained lovingly married.
Betty briefly worked at Baltimore Gas Co, then at C&P Telephone Company for seven years, later becoming a homemaker raising their daughter Tracy. In 1977 Betty began crafting, selling and teaching ceramics from her Cockeysville home. Betty was extremely artistic, an exceptional painter and sculptor. She then worked at Macy’s as an artistic display decorator happily utilizing her artistic abilities further. During this time Betty began driving a school bus, falling in love with all of her wonderful children and families of those she came across, honing close friendships with a few of those families that remained dear to her up to her last bow. She drove the bus just months shy of 30 years before retiring.
Betty also had a knack for photography, capturing endless memories, especially at her grandchildren’s sports games which she and Don rarely missed. Betty was a lifelong dog-lover, who took great joy in outings with Don and their beloved dogs over the years to Ocean City’s beaches, Maryland’s mountains, and various orchards.
Betty is survived by her loving husband Don Wofford; daughter Tracy Dreiband (her husband, Danny); grandchildren Garrett Dreiband (his wife, Alexandra) and Ava Dreiband; and sister Joan Stumpf.
Preceded in passing by father Alphonse and mother Cecil.
Internment will be private. A celebration of her life to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund). Please share online condolences with the family by signing her guestbook through www.peacefulalternatives.com.
