Obituary

William "Bill" Patrick Kladky, age 75, of Lutherville, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025. Born in San Francisco, California, and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Norman and Sylvia (nee Loechel) Kladky and the grandson of the late Sara G. Loechel and Dr. Lloyd O. Loechel of Columbia, Pennsylvania.

Bill attended Mercersburg Academy and graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1971 with a B.A. in English and subsequently earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts in 1983.

In his earlier career, Bill worked as a city planner in Waltham, Massachusetts, before moving to Maryland and serving as research director for Harford Community College and United Way of Central Maryland. He also taught at several universities, including Johns Hopkins University, and was known as a seasoned academic.

Bill married the love of his life, Lee, on August 7, 1987, and they resided in Baltimore County, Maryland together. They raised their two children, Katherine "Kara" and Laura "Laurie."

In 1989, Bill formed his own corporation named Kladky and Associates, Inc., for which he worked as president until his passing. The focus of Kladky and Associates was fair housing and other social justice issues, which Bill cared about passionately. His businesses' primary client was the Greater Baltimore Community Housing Resource Board (GBCHRB), in addition to the Baltimore City and County governments. Bill did many research studies and also maintained the GBCHRB website. He wrote and distributed his "Fair Housing Newsletter" and hosted his own Heaven 600 radio show "Living in Baltimore."

Bill was a devout Christian and member of Towson Presbyterian Church. He took part in Bible study and book club groups. He had a keen sense of humor with love of puns and parody. He was an avid reader and book collector, especially of history books. He also authored many essays for history publications. He greatly enjoyed traveling on cruises, swimming in the ocean, witty repartee, sparkling banter and chocolate cakes.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Lee (nee Martin) Kladky; his affectionate daughters, Kara Kladky and Laurie Kladky; and his loving brother, Edward Kladky.
