Bradley Scott
Mcdearman
Jul 9, 1962 — Dec 3, 2023
Bradley "Brad" McDearman was born in Knoxville, TN on July 9, 1962 to Robert and Sue McDearman. At the age of 5 he moved to Louisville Kentucky with his family. In Louisville he attended Central High School and Ballard High School. He later attended the University of Kentucky where he majored in Business Administration and was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. After graduation he worked for Xerox selling facsimile (Fax) machines: a new Xerox product. While working for Xerox he lived in Memphis, TN and Kansas City, KA. He took a break from work for a year to attend the Goethe institute in Munich, Germany where he studied German and immersed himself into German culture.
In 1991 he attended the University of North Carolina where he completed dual master's degrees in business and city planning. After graduating in 1993 Brad worked for Deloitte and Touche in Newark, NJ providing consulting services to cities across the US. Brad eventually moved to Baltimore, MD which became his permanent home. After successful jobs with the City of Baltimore and the Brookings Institute, Brad started a consulting company.
Brad maintained lifelong friendships with legions of wonderful people he met throughout his life. He loved people and spent a lot of time connecting his friends, family, and associates to each other. He loved activities with his neighborhood friends in the Hampden area of Baltimore, with his family in Kentucky and with friends across the US and in Germany. Brad was driven by a deep Christian faith and lived a life filled with thoughtfulness and generosity.
Brad was always on the move. Each day included some sort of physical activity. Hiking, Cycling, Tennis, Paddle Board and Ping Pong were among his favorites. When he wasn't physically moving, he kept his mind sharp playing all kinds of games: Scrabble, Boggle, Quiddler, card games and a host of others. Brad exceled at these games which often left family members competing for 2nd place.
He was an amazingly brave and strong-willed character. He found ways to make the most of life even through challenging and difficult circumstances during his five-year battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Brad was preceded in death by his father Robert E. McDearman. Brad is survived by his mother Sue Workman McDearman, brothers: David McDearman, Alan McDearman (wife Beth), Kevin McDearman (wife Beth), nephews: Rob McDearman (wife Heather), John McDearman, Chris McDearman, Seth Goodwin, nieces: Ellie McDearman, Sammy Goodwin, and great-niece Avery McDearman.
Celebration of Brad's amazing life will be held in Baltimore and Louisville. The dates for these events are TBD. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to The Parklands of Floyds Fork in Brad's name.
