Carolyn
Krach
d. Jun 25, 2025
Carolyn Archbald Krach, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in her home at Edenwald Retirement Community. Carolyn was born on February 24, 1937, in Allentown, Pennsylvania to James Archbald the 7th and Carolyn Williams Archbald. She had two siblings, James Archbald the 8th who preceded her in death, and Margaretta Gillis of Randolph, Massachusetts. Carolyn grew up in Pottsville, Pennsylvania and moved to the Baltimore area as a teenager. She attended Eastern High School and then James Madison University, the University of Maryland, and later after raising her sons, finalized her degree from Towson University. Carolyn spent much of her career as a medical technologist, including time at Johns Hopkins and the RH Labs. Her beloved husband of 56 years, Donald A. Krach passed away in 2013.
She leaves behind a loving family: her sons and their spouses, Robert Williams Krach and Maria Mostovoy-Krach, and Thomas Matthew Krach and Beth Krach. Carolyn was a proud grandmother to Kendall and her husband Mike Calva, Alex Krach, Conner Krach, Sophie Krach, Thomas Krach, and Klaire Mostovoy. She recently welcomed a great-granddaughter, Lily Carolyn Calva. Family was always Carolyn's focus, along with many dogs, grand dogs, and grand cats. She was a role model to all around her.
Carolyn had numerous close relatives and lifelong friendships. She never forgot birthdays and holidays with a card or a phone call. For friends and family who were sick or elderly, Carolyn often would do the shopping or household chores. Family holidays, like Christmas or the 4th of July were always held at the Krach household with Carolyn doing much of the cooking and hosting. The house was a gathering place for so many.
Carolyn was a devoted member of Epiphany Episcopal Church in Timonium, Maryland, (now St. Francis Episcopal Parish) where she faithfully served on the Altar Guild for over 30 years. Her commitment to the church was a meaningful part of her life. Carolyn also volunteered for many years at Stella Maris in Timonium and served meals on holidays at the Bea Gaddy Community Center.
Carolyn will be remembered for her positive attitude, generosity, sense of humor, and strong will. She overcame anything that came her way with a positive spirit and always put others ahead of herself. Her presence enriched the lives of all who knew her.
A service celebrating Carolyn's life will be held at the St. Francis Episcopal Parish, 2216 Pot Spring Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Saturday, July 19 beginning at 12 Noon. Following the service, there will be a memorial reception at an establishment to be named later that will be nearby. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Francis Episcopal Parish in her memory.
