Obituary

Catherine Turner Carter died peacefully on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Gilchrist Hospice after a short illness.  She was born in Baltimore, the oldest child of Charles Thelin Turner and Margaret Pembroke Belt Turner.  She is survived by her son Hobart V. Fowlkes, Jr., and his husband Konstantinos Christodoulou.  She is also survived by her sisters Margaret "Lin" Hardy (Bill), Frances "Finch" Turner, Anne "Annie" Lawler (Norman) and her brothers Charles "Chooch" T. Turner (Suzanne), Harry B. Turner (Martha) and William "Billy" F. Turner (Karen).  Cathy earned her degree in Nursing from the University of Virginia.  She worked at Union Memorial and Sinai hospitals locally, but spent most of her career in Virginia Beach at Virginia Beach General Hospital as an emergency room nurse.  She had a natural ability to put people at ease through her wonderful humor and her gentle touch.  Her husband, Jack Carter, a former Calvert Hall football star, died in 2013.  Cathy recently moved back to Baltimore to be closer to family.

A family memorial service will be held at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, MD 21093 on Saturday, December 10 beginning at 10 AM.
