Obituary

Christine Kelly Martin, 82, of Towson, Maryland, passed away on September 10, 2026. She was born Barbara Christine Kelly to Pearl Arlene (McGurk) Kelly and Thomas Miller Kelly in York, Pennsylvania, on June 1, 1944. She attended William Penn High School in York and had a career as a Credentials Coordinator in the Department of Surgery at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, where she also edited a medical journal. 

She was married to George Edward Martin until 1981 and raised two sons, Alex Edward Martin and Thad Cullen Martin. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends, interior design, reading, working at Tuesday Morning and Nifty Thrifty, and spending time with her friends and family. She is survived by her sons, their wives, Rasheeda Martin and Mary Claire Banks, her grandchildren, Zoe, Grier, Finn, Zack, Kaitlyn, and Abram, and her brother Alan Durgin. 

A memorial service will be held on September 26th at 1 p.m. at Edenwald Senior Living, 800 Southerly Rd., Towson, Maryland, followed by a lunch in her honor, also at Edenwald. Christine’s remains will be cremated, and her family will gather privately at a later date to scatter her remains in accordance with her wishes. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Edenwald Scholarship Fund to support the continuing education of the community’s staff.
