Christopher Patrick Melfa, born December 1, 1968, has passed away, surrounded in spirit by his loving family, at the age of 57 on Sunday, February 8, 2026. He joins his mother, Janis Paige Cochran-Thomas; stepfather Jim Thomas; father Stephen A. Melfa; grandparents Cynthia and Edward Cochran and his beloved German Shepherd Kola.

Chris's many friends will remember him for his never-ending positive attitude, great determination, and fiery spirit. He was an entrepreneur; starting many successful enterprises and most recently owned and operated a popular pedicab tour business in Washington, D.C., after previous years of work in the mortgage industry. He was a horticultural enthusiast and had a green thumb, cultivating from an early age. Chris's love of live music included his absolute favorite, The Grateful Dead, of which he attended countless shows spanning four decades, and real roots rock reggae, which inspired many trips to Jamaica to commune with his musical brethren.

Chris is survived by his sister, Rebecca Melfa, and his nephews Zoey and Forest. Services will be private.
