On June 21, 2025, Curtis Dean Wiggins, Sr., age 73, of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania; cherished husband of Janet Wiggins, beloved son-in-law of Edna Wilhelm, devoted father of Curtis Wiggins, Jr. and his wife Julie, Joseph Wiggins and his wife Erica, and Laura Keeler and her husband Ben, and loving grandfather of McKayla, Lucas, and Emily.
Curtis joined the Cockeysville Volunteer Fire Company at the age of 18. This was the beginning of a lifetime career in a profession he loved. During his time with the Cockeysville Volunteer Fire Company he acquired the nickname "Doc" from his passion for Emergency Medical Services. In 1972, he joined the Army National Guard where he served as a Combat Medic at the Parkville Armory. In 1976, he was hired as a career member of the Baltimore County Fire Department as a firefighter. Throughout his career, he held the positions of Paramedic, Instructor, Paramedic Coordinator, and finally, after 33 years of service he retired as an EMS Lieutenant. Curtis joined the Jacksonville Volunteer Fire Company in 1985 and became a lifetime member of the organization. During his full-time career, Curtis also worked at the Community College of Baltimore County as one of the lead instructors in their Emergency Medical Technician Basic Life Support program, as well as through the University of Maryland, Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute as an instructor. When he retired from the Baltimore County Fire Department, he continued with his passion for teaching, joining the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association (CCVESA) full time instructional staff as the Emergency Medical Services Training Manager and instructor.
Interment private by family. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Curtis' name to Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 243, Phoenix, Maryland 21131. Please share condolences with the family by signing the guestbook.
