Obituary

Daryl Lee Jones departed this life on July 23, 2024 at Northwest Hospital Center, Randallstown, Maryland as the result of a malignant brain tumor. He was the youngest child of Janice Jones and the late Rev. James Jones, Jr.

Daryl was born on October 21, 1973 at Naval Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee. He was mentally challenged and attended Marley Glen Special School, Glen Burnie, Maryland and Grafton School, Berryville, Virginia from which he graduated.

At the age of 21 he went to live in a group home owned by L.I.F.E., Inc. and attended Gallagher Services Day Program. Even though Daryl was non-verbal he could make his wants known by sign language or getting what he wanted himself.

Daryl enjoyed church whenever his mother could take him. He loved listening to church music on the radio. He enjoyed all opportunities that came his way. He liked eating out at restaurants and going on family trips to Wildwood, New Jersey and to the ocean. He would go out with his mother and brother to Longhorn Steak House and enjoyed himself because he loved steak. He also enjoyed the banquets sponsored by L.I.F.E., Inc. every year.

Daryl leaves to rejoice with memories of his life, his mother, Janice Jones; brother, Ricardo Jones; uncle, Chesley Matthews; aunts, Diane Matthews, Madina Salem, Catherine Jones and Helen (John) and a host of cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at the John Wesley United Methodist Church, 6922 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie, Maryland 21061 on Tuesday, August 6 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM where a Funeral Service will be held beginning at 11:00 AM.  Interment to follow at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
