David B.
Eldridge
d. Feb 26, 2025
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of David B. Eldridge, III on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
David graduated from St. George's School of Rhode Island and went on to study at Roanoke College in Virginia, spent a summer at Sorbonne University in France and attended the Calhoun Engineering School in Maryland followed by a time with Naval Reserves.
He started his career as a Merchant Marine from a love of the sea he got from his great grandfather who was a Sea Captain. Then he had a long tenure as a Manager at the Johns Hopkins Institutions in facilities management until his illness.
While attending school as a young man, David excelled at sports, especially baseball. As a young father he coached his children's basketball, football and lacrosse teams. David was a passionate craftsman which was very appreciated among those who witnessed his talent. He loved his second home in York, Maine where he walked on the beach, insisted upon star gazing in the evening hours and of course delighted in the local "lobstah" often. He took great pride in his family and his job. The evening family ritual was singing and dancing. He loved singing "Pretty Woman" and dance the Cupid Shuffle. It would help to watch and listen if you had a drink in hand to accompany the performance.
David was one of the good guys, well-liked and respected. He was able to remain very positive and brave during his long illness. He read the entire Bible after his diagnosis which was quite an achievement that he was proud of. He left love notes for his wife almost daily for all the years they were together which she will cherish for the rest of her life. It's not possible to sum up in words his full significance and worth because he was priceless to us.
David is survived by his wife, Katherine McCarron-Eldridge; daughter, Amelia Eldridge; son and daughter in law, David B. Eldridge, IV and Angela Eldridge; stepson, Christopher McCarron; grandchildren, Penelope Eldridge and David B. Eldridge, V; sister, Marjorie Piorkowski; and brother and sister-in-law, Marc and Jennifer Eldridge. He is also survived by many loving family members and cherished friends in Massachusetts and Maine. He was preceded in death by his parents, Micheline (nee Ciampi) and David B. Eldridge, Jr.
