David Roberts Hoefner was born February 26, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland to his parents, Virginia Whiting Hoefner and David R. Hoefner II. David grew up in Baltimore, and was a graduate of Baltimore City College High School.  After graduating, David served in Vietnam in the US Army and was a war Hero.

David was awarded the distinguished "Flying Cross" due to his heroic acts in Vietnam.  He was a humble man, who helped others when and where needed and loved animals.

The effect of Vietnam was heavy, as David suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for the remainder of his life.  He was a kind soul, wonderful Son and supportive brother to his sister, Mary Virginia Hoefner.
