Obituary

Dennis Edward Knott of Lutherville, MD, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 31st after a short battle with cancer with his loving wife, Kathleen by his side. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Knott, daughter, Jessica Knott, and son-in-law Devin Watson, and has joined his son, Jeffrey Knott, mother, Ginny Knott, father, Edward Knott, and sister, Diane Larney in the next realm.

Denny met the love of his life, Kathleen, in his late 30's on a blind date. A bet was placed, and whoever won got to pick the location of their second date. He lost, of course. A year later, the two married in August 1982. Their first child, Jessica, was born on Christmas Day 1984, and their second, Jeffrey, in May 1986. His wife and kids, and the life he built with them, were the prides of his life.

A collegiate-level wrestler turned physical education teacher and wrestling coach, Denny often bragged that in college he could sprint up a flight of stairs without becoming winded. In his 50's Denny coached his son's wrestling team at Towson High School, using his years of training and schooling to help build a strong team.

Denny was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, riding and rehabbing Honda motorcycles until he fell in love with Harleys. Always a thrill-seeker, he got his pilot's license in his 50's and took his kids on many trips to take in the Fall leaves in a 2-seater Cessna.

In January 2026, Denny was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. He was never angry, he was a fantastic patient, and he had no regrets; when his time came, he was ready. The last thing he did before passing was smile — look towards his beloved wife — then he took his last breath. His wife and daughter, who acted as his caretakers, miss him beyond words.
