John Richard "Dick" Wagner, 86, of Timonium, Maryland passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at his home. He was born in Baltimore to Philip & Agatha Wagner. He was the devoted husband of the late Joan M. (nee McDorman) Wagner for 64 years before her passing in 2015. Dick was the beloved father of Frederic & his fiancée Heather Marsh, Richard & his wife Karen, Melissa Schaab & her husband Lou and JoAnne Potter & her husband Taylor. He was also a kind and generous grandfather to 10 grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, Mark Wagner and was preceded in death by his brother, Philip Wagner.
Dick graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and received a BS from Johns Hopkins University in mechanical engineering. He was a current member of the Baltimore County Plumbing Board having served on the Board for several years following his retirement from The Poole & Kent Company. He was selflessly devoted to his family and profession and remained active in professional organizations promoting plumbing and gas fitting until his death. Over the course of his long career, Dick lent his expertise to numerous projects, including those at the University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins University, Smithsonian museums, Baltimore Sunpapers - Sunpark, and notable Baltimore landmarks including the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Harborplace, and M & T Bank Stadium.
The family will receive friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, MD 21093 on Thursday, October 7 from 6-8 PM and Friday, October 8 from 10-12 PM where a funeral service will begin at 12 PM. Interment will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Dick's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the ASHRAE Foundation .
