On August 1, 2024, Eung Tae Kim became a citizen of heaven. Cherished wife of the late Soon Ae Kim (citizen of heaven), devoted father of David Kim and his wife Mi Hee Kim, Jean Oh and her husband Sehun Oh, and Eun Kyung Kim, proud grandfather of Grace Kim, Christine Kim, Daniel Kim, Lena Oh, Peter Oh, and Jaesun Kim, loving brother of the late Hae Sook Kim, Eung Hae Kim and Eung Hye Kim.
Born in Mukho, Korea on Oct. 13th ,1942. He was the youngest of four siblings, with an older sister and two older brothers. He enjoyed track and field and boxing in his youth.
He left his hometown and moved to Seoul for a better future. In Seoul he found employment at an electric company and lived in a boarding house, where he met his future wife.
In the late 60's he went to Vietnam to work for an American company. For several years the family benefitted greatly from his overseas job. Upon his return to Korea an unfortunate financial venture led the family to emigrate to America.
The family settled in Maryland, and he was successfully employed by General Electric. However, life in America had many difficult challenges like discrimination, languages and cultural differences. To seek out the support and community of fellow Koreans, they joined the first Korean church in Baltimore. This was the beginning of his faith journey.
Those early years in America were filled with many trials and tribulations. With God's grace and the support of faithful Christians, he was blessed and sanctified by the Holy Spirit. As his faith grew stronger, his devotion to God and Church became his main priority. Eventually he became an elder and continued to serve faithfully.
He is an inspiration to his family for his Spiritual growth and his steadfast commitment to God.
