Gertrude Alice Wensien, 96 years old, of Nottingham, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at home. Gertrude was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 8th,1930 to Henry L. and Loretta McCulloh. She was the youngest of their five children, including two brothers and two sisters who were all very close. Gertrude is survived by her children, Gail Brettschneider and her husband David, Wayne Wensien and his wife Terry and Martin Wensien, including five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well as younger cousins.

Gertrude lived a long life filled with family and lifelong friendships she made along the way with neighbors, co-workers and church members. She held various positions in her career while working at Ashley Chevrolet, Garthe Jewelers and Hersh's Orchard Inn. Even after her retirement from Orchard Inn she continued to work part-time at Mays Chapel United Methodist Church for over twenty years where she made even more friends. She often stated her greatest joy came from her family. Once her children were grown, she made time for traveling including cruises and cross country trips. She had many hobbies like playing bridge, crafting, gardening, sewing and especially quilting.

There will be a burial service held at Druid Ridge Cemetery located in Pikesville, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in honor of Gertrude to the charity of the donor’s choice.
