Obituary

Gregory N. Strouse Sr. passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024. After a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease, he died peacefully with his wife of 29 years, Joy Beauchamp Strouse, by his side. We are thankful that most of his children and grandchildren could spend time with him over his last few days on earth.

Greg was an avid golfer and long-time member of Hunt Valley Golf Club. His other passions included driving his Porsche 911 and boating on the Chesapeake, where he kept a succession of Sea Rays, the last being a 51' Sundancer. His fondest memories were of spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends aboard a boat or on a beach.

Born November 7, 1945, in Rahway, New Jersey, he attended Rahway High School where he played trumpet in the dance band and was on the wrestling and baseball teams. After High school, he received a B.A. in Economics at Marietta College and an M.B.A. at Rutgers.

He settled in Maryland with his former wife, Cynthia Allen, and was very active in his community. He coached a variety of sports for many years and held various offices with the Greater Towson Jaycees including president. He was Maryland Jaycees president in 1974-75, and National Vice President of the US Jaycees 1977-78. He was awarded Jaycee International Senator in 1978, the highest award given by Worldwide JCI and was chosen as Outstanding Young Men in America twice—1978 and 1981.

Greg was a member of the Towson Business Association and served as a Board of Elections Supervisor by Gubernatorial Appointment from 1985 to 1989. He was a candidate for both County Council and House of Delegates.

Greg was proud to have served in the US Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Sergeant E-5. In business, he was owner/President of Master Security Inc. where he held a top-secret clearance and contracted with both industrial concerns and US government agencies in three states and the District of Columbia.

Greg is survived by his wife, Joy, and 6 children and their spouses: Corinne and Bill Patteson, Alison and Pete LeBoutillier, Juliet and Brandon Jones, Lindsey and Matt Votral, Gregory Jr. and Kristen Strouse, and Lyla Strouse.

He is also survived by 13 wonderful grandchildren, and many in-laws, nephews, and nieces.

The family will receive friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Sunday, March 10 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM where a Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 11 beginning at 11:00 AM.
