Hazel Lorraine Carter Gabrielian, age 100, passed away on December 24, 2025 at Glen Meadows Retirement Community. Born on December 15, 1925 in the Shoaley Branch Community of Wilkes County, North Carolina to Reece and Ethel Carter, Hazel was the fourth of thirteen children. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Traphill High School. Shortly after high school, Hazel and the three oldest sisters moved to Washington DC to work for the FBI. She later earned her cosmetology license and opened a beauty salon.

Hazel was the proud mother of two children with her former husband, Pete, and enjoyed homemaking in Rockville MD during their young years. She returned to the salon for some years, then provided companionship support through a home care agency for people in their failing years.

In 1988 Hazel moved to Timonium Maryland and provided day care for two of her grandchildren. Once they started school, she returned to the workplace as a demonstrator for Sam's Club. She enjoyed meeting people and even played matchmaker that resulted in marriage!

In 2013 she moved to Glen Meadows Retirement Community, where she enjoyed "easy living," as she would say, for her remaining years. On December 15, 2025 Hazel celebrated her 100th birthday.

She is survived by her children: Tina Gabrielian Jasion (Scott Jasion), and Craig Gabrielian (Jackie Fish Gabrielian). She is further survived by her grandchildren: Brian Jasion (Trish Adkins Jasion), Aaron Gabrielian (Meghan McNamara Gabrielian), David Jasion (Marie DeJean Jasion), and Jenna Gabrielian. Great-grandchildren: Sadie Jasion, Poppie Gabrielian, Peter Gabrielian, Rory Gabrielian, and Karter Jasion.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held in the Great Hall at Glen Meadows Retirement Community, 11630 Glen Arm Road, Glen Arm, Maryland 21057 on Sunday, January 11 beginning at 1:00 PM with a reception to follow. A family gathering and inurnment will be held at Shoaley Branch Baptist Church in Elkin, North Carolina with a date and time yet to be determined.
