Herman C. Haynes passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Manor Care Nursing Home in York, Pennsylvania. The former Baltimore, Maryland resident was 91 years old. He was born on May 20, 1930 in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina to Quincy Haynes and Nanny (nee Absher) Haynes.

Better known to his family as "Speedy", he was the beloved father of Greg and his wife Cathy, loving Pop of Shannon Buchkoski and her husband John; dear brother of Clyde Haynes and his wife Sylvia, Pauline Hill, the late Thurman Haynes, the late Sherman Haynes, the late Leanza Cline, the late Maxine White and the late Maggie Crews. He is also survived by his very special niece, Janice Reid and her husband Jack, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Herman served for his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was an avid book reader and loved Westerns. He was a wildlife enthusiast, always watching the wildlife cameras and planned trips to the Conowingo Dam to watch the eagles fly. He also enjoyed taking walks on the Havre de Grace boardwalk. He will be remembered fondly and will be missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Monday, October 18 from 9:30 - 10:30 AM where a funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
