Obituary

Howard T. Porter passed away on August 20, 2025. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jackie in 2008 and his sister Helen Kruger in 1999. He is survived by his loving companion, Mildred Neeper, a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Charles Kamsch, a niece, Ann Coster and numerous cousins.

He was born in Chase, MD and joined the army shortly after high school, where he served for 21 years, including 2-one-year tours in Korea, 1.5 years in occupation of Japan and 9.5 years in Austria and Germany. Most of his service time was in an Armored Calvary Unit and he retired from the Army in 1968 with his last duty assignment being Command Sergeant Major of 3/1 Calvary Squadron, Ft. Hood, Texas. After retirement he accepted a position as a property claims adjuster with General Adjustment Bureau for 4 years after which time he joined Aetna Casualty and Surtey Insurance company as a property claims adjuster. In 1994 he retired from Aetna after 26 years in the insurance industry.

Interment will be private. A luncheon/memorial service will be held at a later date and place to be announced.
