Obituary

On July 23, 2024, James Anthony Genthner, 80 of Timonium, cherished husband of the late Catherine Castro Genthner, beloved brother-in-law of Lorna & John McGinty of Baltimore, MD, Marijo & Tom Fadrigalan of East Taunton, MA, Charlie & Mary Castro of Framingham, MA, Cristina & Rob Palmisano of Baltimore, MD, Manny & Lisa Castro of Baltimore, MD, Ana & Brian Dempsey of Weymouth, MA, and Grace & Ruel Soriano of Clermont, FL, loving uncle of 10 nieces and nephews and great-uncle of 4 nieces and nephews.

He was born on July 19, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland. James graduated from Baltimore City College in 1962 and Loyola College (now Loyola University) in 1966. He met his wife Catherine while they both attended graduate classes at Johns Hopkins University.  They were married for 36 years, until Catherine passed away on April 15 of this year. He had a lifelong interest in streetcars and railroads. When he was younger, he enjoyed travel to Japan and Europe to ride the streetcars and trains. He was an active member of the Baltimore Streetcar Museum and Church of the Nativity.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Church of the Nativity, 20 E. Ridgely Road, Timonium on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
