Obituary

James, who lovingly requested to be called "Jim-Bo" in his last days, passed away on September 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of his wife, Mariam, and daughters, Liz, Ally, and Patricia. Jim-Bo was a man of wit, care, and quiet wisdom, whose gentle presence left a mark on all who knew him.

He will be best remembered by his family for his desire to help. Quietly and without seeking recognition, James donated to children's cancer causes, his church, and many other organizations. His family only discovered the extent of his generosity after asking.

James worked as an engineer, yet in the end, he came to understand that his greatest legacy was not his work, but the connections he made with others. What James cared about most was people. "He is thought of often, always with a smile," one coworker proclaimed. He was a loving father to Carla, Paula, Lia, Ally, Liz, and Patricia, and his words of advice carried lasting weight, shaping lives with just a few sentences and a single meaningful glance.

James's clever humor could transform any room, and he was a deep thinker about life and others. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, whether perfecting the olive oil to vinegar ratio for a salad, taking nightly 3-mile walks with his beloved dog, or delighting in the sweetness of watermelon (for Jim-Bo, there was no such thing as too much). James had a fondness for crossword puzzles and could often be found raving about his latest book — one he had, of course, read from start to finish. Yard sales brought him joy, a chance to discover small treasures and share stories along the way. Jim-Bo was also a faithful FaceTime companion to his granddaughters and a steadfast fan of late-night TV, famously considering leaving before Jeopardy! finished as an act of treason. These small rituals reflected a life built on togetherness, curiosity, and the quiet acts of love.

James leaves behind a legacy of deep thought, laughter, and gentle presence that will continue to live on through his children and their children. Above all, he wanted his daughters to know how deeply he cared for them and to trust that they would be okay without him. His final act of love was waiting for his family to gather at his side before peacefully passing into eternal rest.

James's life was a gentle reminder that what endures is not what we accomplish, but the love, kindness, and bonds we share. He will be remembered with love and laughter and missed more than words can say.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Parish, 100 Church Lane, Cockeysville, on Monday, September 29, 2025 at 11 AM. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
