Jane Elizabeth
Kaelber
d. Jul 18, 2024
Jane Elizabeth (nee Burton) Kaelber, of Towson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2024 in Nottingham, MD surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Grace and Fred Burton on September 4, 1932. Her family made their home in the Towson area, where Jane grew up and attended Towson Sr. High School. Jane earned the nickname "The Mayor of Ocean City" for her outgoing and sociable nature. She was a dedicated fan of the Baltimore Bullets, holding coveted season tickets near the basket where she often caught the eye of TV cameras and newspaper photographers. Jane's passion for sports and her community presence left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Jane held two significant roles that brought her immense pride and satisfaction. Her career at the Baltimore County Police Department in Towson allowed her to contribute to her community in meaningful ways. Additionally, she served as a dedicated receptionist at Legg Mason for many years, embodying professionalism and warmth in her interactions with colleagues and clients alike. Her commitment to both roles reflected her strong work ethic and caring nature, balanced with raising her family.
Jane loved Towson–she was a forever Towson gal! She enjoyed her seafood, especially soft-shell crabs, salmon and crab cakes. Jane was also fond of listening to tunes from musical legends Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole and Neil Diamond.
Jane embraced life with a passion for dance, golf, shopping, and sports, particularly basketball and baseball. In her youth, she dazzled as a "can-can" dancer and maintained her vitality by playing basketball. Over the years, her devotion to the former Baltimore Bullets and unwavering support for the Baltimore Orioles continually showcased her deep sportsmanship. Jane's family and friends will forever cherish her impeccable style, meticulous attention to detail, and her affection for elegant shoes, purses and stunning attire.
Jane found and married her lifelong partner in Ted Kaelber; they married on February 2, 2001 and shared a deep bond. Together they cherished moments on the golf course, dining out, cozying up to watch TV, and hosting friends. They shared a mutual love for attending games and, most of all, dancing. They danced every Friday night at the Bamboo House in Cockeysville. Most notable, every New Year's Eve held a special place in their hearts as they waltzed the night away at the Parkville American Legion, creating cherished memories, year after year.
Jane's vibrant personality was punctuated by memorable expressions that her children fondly remember, even if it sometimes made them cringe. She was known to exclaim, "My God, that was entirely too much food, I'm full as a tick!" And when something truly satisfied her palate, she would joyfully announce, "Well, that really took the wrinkles out of my belly!" And we can't forget her exclaiming "That's Riii-diculous!" in an ironic tone. Her unique sense of humor and colorful phrases added an unforgettable charm to her presence in their lives.
Jane was preceded in death by her brother, Sam Baker and her loving daughter, Antonia Natale Schell. She is survived by her husband Ted, son Ralph Natale, daughters Victoria Natale, Christina Woodland; sons-in-law Tom Schell and John Woodland, Sr.; step-children Jennifer McGinnis, Julie Twist, Katie Meuchel, Teddy Kaelber and Pam Vecchi Ponce; sister-in-law Katie Baker; longtime and best-friends JoAnne Miller and Pat Reed; grandchildren Keri Esposito, Krystal Saunders, Ashley Nester, Allison Maiwurm, Ryan Schell, Jason Schell, John Woodland, Jr., Vicki Fellers, Sam Woodland, Alexandra Twist, Henry Twist, Brook Twist, Finn McGinnis, Nathaniel Kaelber, Ayla Meuchel, Jude Meuchel, Kelsi Meuchel; great-grandchildren, Andrew Adams, Dominic Esposito, Sophia Esposito, Rocco Esposito, Bella Esposito, Jackson Nester, Nate Nester, Alexandra Fellers, Josephine Schell, Francesca Schell, Louisa Jane Maiwurm, Waylon Woodland, Palmer Schell, Sebastian Bisaha, Mary Jane Dix, Nataleigh Twist, Lucy Twist, Oliver Twist, Chase Twist, Hazel Twist, Nora Twist, Luna Twist and a host of relatives and friends.
