Janet Kay Brooks of Silver Spring, MD passed away on December 24, 2025.  She was born in Washington, D.C. on Feb 6, 1946.   She attended public schools in Montgomery County, MD and graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Towson University.  Janet then entered the federal civil service and worked on the southern border in Texas where she used her Spanish language major.  She later moved back to Silver Spring for the remainder of her career, and retired from the Department of Homeland Security.  Janet enjoyed family gatherings for holidays, occasional visits with relatives in the Midwest, and summer visits to Deep Creek Lake in Western MD.

Janet is survived by a brother Neal of Phoenix, MD, and nephews Jeff and Greg Brooks as well as great nieces and nephews.  A younger brother Gary predeceased her. A private family ceremony is planned for early January and interment in Timonium, MD.
