Obituary

Jasmine Netos Lampadarios died in Baltimore, Maryland on June 28, 2024 at the age of 77.  She was born in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of Philip and Mary Netos.  From a young age, she knew she wanted to work at the intersection of science and service, and she accomplished her goal.  After graduating from Purdue University with a degree in biological science, Jasmine received a nursing degree from Columbia University.  She later attended the Johns Hopkins University where she earned a Master of Public Health degree as well as certification in nurse midwifery, and established the first full scope midwifery service in Harford County, Maryland, delivering over 1200 babies in the course of her career.  After retiring from nurse midwifery in 2012, she earned a Certificate in Health Informatics from the University of California and began her second career with the Maryland Department of Health Vital Statistics Administration, where she was instrumental in implementing the Maryland Electronic Death Registration System statewide.

Jasmine was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, godmother, and friend.  She was extremely proud of her two lovely daughters and their families, and her main joy in life was spending time with them.  She was an adventurous, curious, and fearless worldwide traveler, and loved dance in all forms. She was a faithful member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in Baltimore for many decades, proud of her Greek heritage, and active with the Hellenic Heritage Museum of Maryland. Jasmine and her late husband were generous, hospitable, life-long friends to many, welcoming people from anywhere and everywhere into their home and their hearts.

Jasmine is survived by devoted daughters Eleni Lampadarios (Peter Campanides) and Maria Lampadarios (Radoil Mitov); grandchildren Demetri and Georgina Campanides and Zoia and Anastasia Mitova; sister Helen Netos (William Erdman) and brother Nicholas Netos (John Walker).  She is also survived by her large extended family and countless friends, many of whom made it possible for her to spend her final days at home. She was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband, George V. Lampadarios, who passed away in 2014.

The family will receive friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Friday, July 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Mrs. Lampadarios will lie-in-state at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, 24 W. Preston Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201 on Saturday, July 6 with a Trisagion (prayer service) at 10:30 AM. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church Cemetery in Parkville, Maryland.

Jasmine requested that in her memory, donations be made to the laboratory of Dr. Andrew Feinberg, Department of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University, P.O. Box 49143, Baltimore, Maryland 21297-9143, or to a charity of one's choice.
