On Sunday, August 11, 2024, JEAN HART CHILCOAT, of Oak Crest Village, formerly of Timonium, Maryland; beloved wife of the late Richard "Dick" Lee Chilcoat passed away peacefully in her home. She had long suffered from COPD and recently had battled COVID. She was 92 years old. Mrs. Chilcoat was preceded in death by her parents, James Smith Hart and Marie Wiepert Hart of Govans and her brothers, John W. Hart and James O. "Buddy" Hart, as well as sisters, Mary Perry, Joan Duval, Kathleen Benson and grandson, Joshua A. "Drew" Chilcoat. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Giardina and was the devoted mother of Joseph E. Chilcoat and wife Pamela, Gary L. Chilcoat and wife Darlene, Debra (Chilcoat) Saraullo, Daniel J. Chilcoat and his wife Janise, Jamie P. Chilcoat and wife Lorrie and Tammy L. Welsh and her husband David. She is also survived by her 20 beloved grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Rita Chilcoat Oehrl.
Mrs. Chilcoat was a Towson Catholic High School graduate and married the love of her life, Richard Chilcoat in 1952. She held several secretarial and receptionist jobs at various times while raising her children with him in the family home on Harding St. in Timonium. Mrs. Chilcoat devoted most of her time to her children and later in life she often expressed her joy reflecting on those busy times transporting them and sometimes their friends to school events, sports, scouts, Beaver Springs Swim Club and church activities at St. Joseph Church, Texas, Maryland as well as all their first jobs. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, volunteer at St. Joseph School, St. Joseph Church, and Oakcrest Bread and Beans Program, softball coach, Eucharistic Minister, and Information Desk Volunteer for many years at GBMC. Her compassion, devotion to family and volunteer spirit lives on through her children.
The family will receive friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Thursday, August 15 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 16 beginning at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Bello Machre , 7765 Freetown Road, Glen Burnie, Maryland 26061, memo: Virginia Avenue House for Jessica Chilcoat.
