John R.
Francomano
d. Oct 8, 2022
John R. Francomano, of Lutherville, passed away suddenly on October 8, 2022. He had just celebrated his 80th birthday.
Born in East Orange, New Jersey to the late Robert and Vera (Parinello) Frank, he was raised in Watertown, New York and attended Watertown High School before joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1959. A longtime Baltimore resident, he graduated from the Baltimore College of Commerce in 1966 and received his J.D. degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1969.
A practicing attorney for over 50 years, he was a partner at numerous law firms in the Baltimore area during his distinguished career. Most recently he was a partner at Francomano & Francomano, P.A., a Towson practice he shared with his late son, John Robert III (J.R.), where he worked until his last day without a thought of retiring. A reluctant traveler who was content to spend hours reading in his favorite chair, he was recently persuaded to travel to Hawaii where he enjoyed the trip of a lifetime with his wife and dear friends. He was a devoted sports fan and enjoyed playing golf and poker when not cheering for the Orioles and the Ravens. Although quietly reserved about his military service, his steadfast pride and devotion to the Marine Corps was evident in the disciplined and confident way he lived each day of his life. Ever proud of his Sicilian heritage, he loved dinners that included spaghetti and Sunday "gravy," but treasured the company of his family around the table most of all.
Predeceased by his parents, his son J.R., his first wife Rita (Stacy), and his brother Paul Frank, he is survived by his current wife, Jean Satterfield, son James and daughter-in-law Colleen (Halloran), and daughter-in-law Carrie. He was the proud Pop-Pop of Hanley, Elliott, Sean, and Noel, who he loved dearly. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Frank and Robert Frank (Lucille); sisters-in-law Julie Frank, Sharon Dura (John), Joanne Price (Richard), Fran Thompson, Mary Alice Grant (Larry), Margaret Buxton (John), and Cass Anania (John); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. John was loved by all who had the pleasure to encounter his gracious presence and kind-hearted spirit.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the Seena Magowitz Foundation , PO Box 4119, Arlington, VA 22204.
What greater honor, that when a man moves forward,
he leaves behind in each of us the best of what he was.
