Through his interest in classic Hollywood films, John became a fan of Humphrey Bogart. He enjoyed watching every film that Bogart ever made and could, on rare occasions, do an entertaining impersonation of the American icon.
It was John's lifelong love of opera, though, that is most memorable for all who knew him. He found the voices of the great tenors, Enrico Caruso and Mario Lanza, stirring and loved listening to their recordings. He voraciously read their life stories, learned the librettos of the operas in which they starred, and would share what he knew with any interested listener. He went on to enjoy a range of operas, musicals, and singers throughout his life.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Milton Pfeiffer and Anna Faulkner Pfeiffer. He is survived by his brother Robert Allan Pfeiffer, sister Margaret Swindell Pfeiffer, and sister-in-law Joan Purdum Pfeiffer.
