Joyce Yvonne Thomas (nee Carneal) Mewshaw, of Towson, Maryland passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026. She was 88 years old. Joyce was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Mewshaw for 29 years before his passing in 2015; cherished mother of Timothy Thomas and his wife Gail, Terry Thomas and his wife Linda and the late Matthew Thomas; proud grandmother of Alexander, Elizabeth, Zachary, Nicholas and Abigail; adored great grandmother of Emilia, Owen, EJ, Riley, Dustin and Nathan. 

A Memorial Service is being planned at St. John's Lutheran Church, 13300 Manor Road, Glen Arm, MD 21057. Date and time are yet to be determined – this obituary will be updated. Entombment will be private.
