Judith, known by everyone as Dewey, passed away on November 6 at the age of 70. Dewey is survived by her loving husband, John, her two daughters, Lauren and Liz, and her sister, Marcia.
Born in Baltimore at Mercy Hospital, Dewey had an interesting life. Dewey was a talented artist, busy gardener, avid reader, photographer, white water rafter, and an excellent nurse. Dewey worked for 30 years on the oncology unit of St. Joseph's Hospital in Towson, MD. She loved nursing and the opportunity it gave her to help others.
Dewey was constantly working on arts and crafts projects, creating unique gifts to give away to her friends and family. She was immensely proud of these projects and thrilled to make others in her life smile.
With all that Dewey did, she was incredibly modest. She would work on art projects for her daughters for days, transforming the living room into her studio or painting murals on closet doors. Dewey would use her sewing machine and create countless dolls for her friends and family. That's just who she was - someone who constantly worked hard with the goal of making others happy.
Dewey tried to live life to the fullest. Unfortunately, Dewey found out at the age of 57 that she had Alzheimers, like her mother before her. Life became much more of a struggle from that point on. Defiantly, Dewey tried to be twice as busy, always going somewhere or doing something new. Her determination and fortitude to struggle through the diagnosis was indeed impressive.
Dewey loved life more than most and appreciated all of the opportunities it presented. Hers was not a life wasted.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
