We regretfully announce the passing of Karen "Hanny" Borchers, age 67, of Monkton, Maryland. Karen passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2023.  Karen was born to the late Bernard Kulinski and Betty (Weitz) on October 5, 1955  in Baltimore, Maryland.

Karen attended St. Dominics School (Baltimore) and Mercy High School.  After graduating in 1973, she began a long and very successful career at the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, Maryland.  She conducted International training classes in Mexico City in her position and received the Commissioners Team Award for her contributions on the "I-Claim" Retire Online Project.  After 40 years of service, at retirement, she was classified as an IT Specialist (Sysana).

Karen was predeceased by her loving husband, Bruce Borchers, of 44 years.  Bruce passed after a valiant four-year battle with cancer with Karen always by his side.  Karen is survived by her sisters Deborah Kugelmann and Cynthia (Michael) Witczak and her two nephews, Andrew and Bradley Witczak.  Karen was a good-hearted and kind person and will forever be missed by family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.   In lieu of flowers, please remember Karen with a donation to your local SPCA or your favorite charity.
