Katharine B.
Lindauer
d. Dec 2, 2022
Kass Lindauer passed peacefully on December 2, at the age of 97, and we know is enjoying the reunion with her late husband, Dan, who passed in 1999 after more than 50 years of marriage.
As a stay at home Mom in the 50's, Kass raised her children while perfecting her sewing skills, making clothes, coats, draperies and even reupholstering the backseat of their 1951 Chevy.
Her sewing skills were rewarded with a Blue Ribbon for a First Communion dress at the1959 Maryland State Fair.
Kass was known for canning all the fruits and vegetables from their huge garden and yard on Yeoho Rd….most especially her black raspberry preserves. We all loved her Date Nut Bread at Christmas time that she always gifted with a block of cream cheese. Many enjoyed her coconut cake that she made for affairs at the Catholic Community of St Francis.
After Dan retired, they enjoyed traveling the world taking more than 50 Elderhostel trips. Their trips ranged from performing an Operetta, walking the path of Paul and learning new crafts such as basket weaving and water color painting.
Into her 90s, Kass was still driving, was featured on a recumbent bike for Cockeysville Senior Center Gym website, doing crossword puzzles in ink, and scheduling the United Churches Assistance Network (UCAN) volunteers. She had a gift for singing! She was often found at retirement communities performing shows with BYKOTA on Stage and was an active member of the Catholic Community at St. Francis Xavier choir.
Kass is survived by her three remaining children, Jerry, Patty and Joann (Sharon passed in 2020); eight grandchildren: David, Kara, Teresa, Katrina, Julie, Chris, Erik, and Mark; and eight great grandchildren: Avery, Harrison, Quintin, Marina, Winston, Eagan, Thea, and Magnolia.
The family wants to thank all the staff at Brightview Mays Chapel for their love and care of Kass over the past 10 months.
Family and friends may call at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, MD 21093 on Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier Church on Friday at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.
