Kenneth "Kenny" Dale Sharun
March 3, 1962 – December 27, 2025
Kenneth "Kenny" Dale Sharun passed away on December 27, 2025, in Timonium, Maryland, at the age of 63. Born on March 3, 1962, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Kenny lived a life defined by friendship, laughter, craftsmanship, and a deep devotion to the people he loved.
Growing up, Kenny's early years were shaped by movement and adaptability. Alongside his father, Gordon, and his siblings, Kevin, Nadine, and Terry, he lived in Edmonton, Alberta; Avon, New York; South Paris, Maine; and Lititz, Pennsylvania, before the family ultimately settled in the Baltimore area. It was there that Kenny graduated from Towson High School with the Class of 1980.
He often spoke fondly of those formative years: discovering his place in the percussion section of school bands, finding freedom on the road behind the wheel of his '65 Dodge Dart, skiing whenever he had the chance, and, most importantly, being surrounded by friends. Kenny understood that life was best lived in good company.
After high school, Kenny followed the pull of the coast and moved to Ocean City, Maryland, where he found a new family in the Ocean City Beach Patrol. Those years carried the same energy that would mark the rest of his life- hard work balanced with joy, camaraderie, and unforgettable stories.
That spirit followed him back to Baltimore, where he became a familiar and beloved presence in the kitchens and dining rooms of the Rusty Scupper and Phillips restaurants. As a server, Kenny was fun, fast-paced, and magnetic, and the friendships he formed there endured for decades. The stories from those days, full of laughter, late nights, and shared experiences, remained alive in him until the very end.
It was at Phillips that Kenny met a coworker who would become a best friend, a roommate, and ultimately family: Cameron Huey. Cameron introduced Kenny to his sister, Rebecca, and from that moment forward, the course of his life was set. Their love was steady and enduring, and together they built a life grounded in partnership, humor, and mutual respect.
Kenny spent 33 years working in the commercial construction industry, a career he took immense pride in. Through his time with Glen Arm Building Co., he formed lasting bonds and built not only structures, but relationships- earning respect through his skill, reliability, and character. A true craftsman, Kenny was always drawn to new and unusual projects, approaching each with curiosity and care. As a handyman, he was endlessly generous with his time, never hesitating to put his own life on pause to help someone else.
Above all, Kenny was a devoted husband to his wife, Rebecca, and a loving, supportive father to their two children, Stewart and Caroline. He was a constant presence, not only in their lives, but in the lives of their friends as well, offering guidance, humor, and a sense of safety that extended far beyond his own family. To many, he felt like a second father; to all, he was someone you could count on.
Kenny was a loving son-in-law to Rebecca "Beccy" Wilson; a deeply caring brother-in-law to Elizabeth, Roger, Cameron, JoAnne, Jay, Jill, Julie, and Bruce, and a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews: Kyle, DaLaney, Christopher, Catie, Brendan, Jack, Ryan, Taylor, Kate, Matthew, Gideon, and Joy. He was always just one bellowing laugh away from fixing your day, a presence that could lift a room simply by entering it.
Kenny exemplified what it meant to be a real friend. Warm, generous, and endlessly kind, he showed up, again and again, for the people in his life. His legacy lives on in the countless friendships he nurtured, the hands he helped, and the love he gave freely.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Rebecca "Becca" (nee Huey) Sharun; his children, Stewart Sharun and Caroline Sharun; his siblings, Nadine Sharun and Terry Sharun; and by the memory of his beloved brother, Kevin Sharun.
A memorial service will be held at a future date.
His presence remains a steady guide for those who loved him.
In lieu of flowers please remember Kenny with memorial contributions to The Chesapeake Bay Foundation , 6 Herndon Avenue, Annapolis, Maryland 21403. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.peacefulalternatives.com .
