Obituary

Lauren Barger, 37, mother of two, of Owings Mills, MD, passed away on March 16, 2024, after a heroic battle with ovarian cancer. Lauren was born on March 26, 1986 in Harrisburg, PA. She grew up in Mechanicburg, PA as well as Owings Mills, MD, where she raised her children, Eli and Madelyn.

Lauren had a bright smile, a contagious laugh and a strong loyalty to those she loved. Above all, she loved making memories with her children whether devotedly watching the Ravens, visiting the zoo or taking road trips to Florida. Lauren loved an adventure and once traveled to Atlanta just to see a whale shark. Lauren was also very talented and loved a project. She volunteered on a house building, helped to install the family pool and enjoyed working for her stepfather's painting company, Sheldon and Sons. She had a very giving heart and found joy in helping those in need. Lauren was faithful in her relationship with God.

Lauren was a loving daughter, a devoted sister, an effervescent aunt, a dedicated cousin and friend. She was a devoted granddaughter and lived with her maternal grandmother, "Grammy" for many years. Above all, she was an extraordinary mother. Lauren's world revolved around her children and she dedicated every day to ensuring they had the best life she could provide for them.

Lauren is survived by her two beloved children, Eli Robert (8) and Madelyn Elizabeth (5); her parents Leida (Scott) Lamas-Sheldon and Robert (Cynthia) Barger; her siblings Evan (Kristin) Barger, Jonathan (Cassandra) Barger, Blair (Jon) Sheldon, Ellen (Ty'Relle) Barger, Taylor (Anthony) Sheldon and Adrianne (Josh) Barger; niece (Jane Margaret) and nephews (Jack Robert and Owen Michael); many aunts, uncles and cousins. Lauren is predeceased in life by her grandparents Ventura and Leida Lamas, and William and Mary Barger.

Lauren, her children and their family received an outpouring of prayers, love and support during her battle with cancer. Whether family or people never blessed with meeting her, Lauren's story, strength and unwavering dedication to fight to be there for her children reached the hearts of many. She was immensely grateful for the kindness bestowed upon her.
