Lenna
Kennedy
d. Oct 12, 2026
Saturday
Govans Presbyterian Church
3:00 - 6:00 pm (Eastern time)
Lenna Kennedy died at Edenwald Senior Living on Monday October 12, 2026. She is survived by her oldest son Sean Kennedy, his spouse Ariel Sklar, their daughters Samira and Betula, and her youngest child Liam, his wife Samantha, and their sons, Eogan and Eamon.
Lenna was born in Baltimore, MD on December 1, 1938. The daughter of George and Jesse Davis, Lenna graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School. She attended Cornell University and graduated with a degree in Economics in 1960.
She married Stanton Rodger Kennedy in 1961 and they had 3 children: Linda (1964), Sean (1967), and Liam (1969). The Kennedy family was on the verge of a cross country move to Scottsdale, Arizona when Stanton tragically died from complications due to a congenital heart condition. Lenna completed the cross country move and maintained the family in Arizona for two years before returning to Baltimore. The family settled in the Rodgers Forge community of Baltimore County and would remain centered there until all of Lenna’s children had moved off to begin their own lives.
The task of being a single mother through the 70’s and 80’s kept Lenna very busy. But in her spare time she enjoyed reading, gardening, baking, and knitting. After she became an empty nester, she became even more involved in Boy Scout Troop 35. Lenna always counted becoming the 2nd female Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 35 history as one of her proudest accomplishments. Additionally, Lenna was a certified Master Gardener and worked extensively with that program throughout the Baltimore region.
Few people ever left a conversation with Lenna without being impressed by the strength of her intellect and the depth of her knowledge. She remained a feared trivia contestant throughout her life. As a single mother in the 1970’s Lenna was a pioneer of the women’s liberation movement and yet would have been happiest living the lifestyle of the 1950s homemaker. Touched at an early age by the spirit of John Kennedy’s New Frontier, Lenna worked as a public servant for 4 decades and never lost her faith in the liberalism of the 1960’s and the idea that one person working can make a difference that changes the world.
We will celebrate her life on November 7th from 3:00 – 6:00 at:
