Louise Gilkerson Crouch, age 90, of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Levindale Hebrew Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland.

She was born on September 29, 1930, the youngest daughter of Isaac and Bessie Carper Gilkeson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Emanuel A. Amato and Buford B. Crouch, 4 brothers and 10 sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa A. Staten (Denny), Hope Mills, North Carolina, and Nancy A. Stallard (John), Baltimore, Maryland; her granddaughter, Mary S. Cox (Ryan) and her great grandson, Eli Cox, of Shallotte, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Mary Jane Phipps Gilkerson, Lewisburg, West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's UMC and was very active in the life of that church. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, gardening and spending time with family and friends on her New River camp.

The family will receive friends at Beckley Community United Methodist Church, 217 S. Heber Street, Beckley, West Virginia 25801 on Sunday, August 22 from 1:15 PM until 2:00 PM. A Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. Betsy M. Evans, celebrating Louise's life will begin at 2:00 PM. The church requires that masks be worn and social distancing be observed. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift contribution can be made to the Beckley Community United Methodist Church.
