Obituary

Ms. Margaret "Maggie" Woodhull Flanigan, unexpectedly and suddenly passed away on August 17, 2024, at the age of 34.

Maggie was born in Baltimore, MD on May 15, 1990. She attended the Performing Arts Magnet school program as a middle schooler where she blossomed and thrived. Her vocal talents were also cultivated launching her passion for all things theater!  She was involved in many All-County and State choruses as a result. She graduated from Loch Raven High School in 2008 and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania majoring in nursing with minors in psychology and choral music.

Her career path started as a certified sailing instructor followed by serving in a volunteer capacity and then employed at Sheppard Pratt Health System as a credentialing coordinator for the medical staff.  She left healthcare during the pandemic and became a seamstress.  Her journey ended at Quantum Sails in Annapolis where took her love of theater and sewing and merged it with her passion for sailing.

Maggie's greatest joys included her enormous extended family into which she welcomed her network of friends from Special Olympics Sailing, Gorilla Theater Front which she helped form, many other community theater programs, Maryland Presbyterian Church, Indiana University of Pennsylvania/Delta Omicron, Division 11 Hobie Cat members, knitting and creating through sewing, her cats and penguin collection, London Calling and the J World sailors as well as all sailors in the region.

She'll be remembered for her genuine kindness and ability to make you feel like you've known each other forever, her amazing sense of fashion and ability to dress anyone, her bright presence in any setting, her devotion to all she loved human and other, her angelic voice, deep spirituality, unforgettable hugs, love of glitter and red lips.

She is survived by her loving parents, Lynn and Daniel Flanigan; cherished siblings, Ryan Flanigan and his wife Katie and James Flanigan and his wife Kate; beloved nephew and godson, Brooks Flanigan; grandmother, Jackie Flournoy. Her memory will also be treasured by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Kurtz's Beach, 2070 Kurtz Avenue, Pasadena, MD, 21122 on Friday, August 30, 2024 beginning at 11 AM. Please omit flowers and do not wear black. Please dress festive casual with glitter and sparkles, teal and pink are recommended.
