Obituary

On June 22, 2024, Maryann (nee Narbut) Knopp  peacefully passed surrounded by loved ones.

Maryann was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY.  In 1962, she moved to Baltimore after marrying, eventually settling with her family, and becoming a longtime resident of Bel Air, MD.    Maryann was an avid reader, had a passion for dancing and enjoyed flower gardening.  She loved the beach, being on the water boating/sailing and being a grandmother and great grandmother.  After retirement, Maryann moved to Ocean Pines to enjoy the "beach life".  She moved back to Bel Air in 2001 to be closer to family.  In 1997, after being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, Maryann became a Chairperson for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life to raise awareness for the disease.  As a dedicated Team Captain, she and her team raised over $100,000. Maryann was a kind and generous soul, putting others' needs before her own.  She will be remembered for her warm heart and compassion which extended to all who knew her. Maryann was a relentless fighter and loved her family and friends above all else.

Maryann is survived by Robert Knopp, her loving husband of 31 years. Devoted mother of Raymond Bonhs and Linda Bonhs Capirichio; proud grandmother of Lydia Bongiorno and Julia Capirichio; cherished great grandmother of Stella Bongiorno; dear sister of Alex Narbut and his wife Sue, predeceased by her sister Eileen Narbut. Also survived by many nephews, nieces, stepchildren, step grandchildren and lifelong friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Maryann's memory to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) https://themmrf.org/ to support research, promote awareness, and accelerate a cure.
