Meekyoung "Meeky" Yang peacefully passed away on December 13, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. After an arduous battle with ovarian cancer—first diagnosed in July of 2023—her disease unexpectedly took her at the age of 58. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain.

Meekyoung was born in South Korea and earned a bachelor's degree in children's education. Following her sister's footsteps, she immigrated to the United States in 1992 and never looked back. She established herself as business owner of Charm City Liquors in Lansdowne, Maryland and quickly became a beloved figure within the community. Her tough-love attitude and compassionate nature earned her the title of "Ma" by many of her customers. She operated the store for more than 20 years, even working throughout her illness until her final days.

What brought Meeky the most joy and fulfillment, however, was her time as a mother. She had her only daughter Emily in 2006 and has worked tirelessly to support her future as a single mother. Meeky braved every trial and tribulation with tenacity and tremendous grit for the sake of her family. Anybody could see that her love knew no bounds, and her fierce spirit could never be dimmed.

Meekyoung is survived by her only daughter, Emily; her mother, Sun Jang Lee; her older sister, Meeyoung Lee; and younger brother Sungchul Lee. She was preceded in death by her father Moon Bae Lee and her brother Sung Kwan Lee.

A celebration of her life will be held at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Thursday, December 19 beginning at 6:00 PM. The event will consist of one hour of viewing, followed by a service. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, December 20 beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
