A Tribute to a Loving Husband, Father and Brother for Life

Michael John Collins was born in Clinton, Massachusetts, into a proud military family. His early years took him around the globe, including a chapter in Okinawa, Japan, where his father held the distinguished title of Sergeant Major, the highest rank for an enlisted service member. The family eventually settled at Fort Meade, Maryland, where Michael attended Old Mill High School. It was there that he discovered his passion for both lacrosse and football, a love that would shape many of his lifelong friendships and values.

Michael's college journey began on a whim, he and his friend Schwartz committed to Frostburg State College after agreeing it looked great on a sweatshirt. Majoring in recreation, Mike developed a flair for the unconventional, with specialties in "do-si-dos" and birdwatching. During his sophomore year, he pledged the KZX "athletic" fraternity, where he forever became known as "Pops."

After graduation, Mike followed his passion into teaching racquetball, eventually reaching "semi-pro" status. His career took a different path into the world of banking, where he thrived and never looked back.

Fate, and some helpful friends, led "Pops" to meet Jodi Brown at a KZX and AZD alumni event. The connection was instant, and the two married in 1991. They made their home in Bel Air, Maryland, and were blessed with two sons—Connor Ryan in 1995 and Casey Michael in 1998. In 2003, the family moved into their dream home in Parkton, MD, where Michael truly became the neighborhood dad. Always outside, always engaged, Mike was a constant presence.

He never missed one of his boys' games, and he guided them with a steady hand, a big heart, and endless wisdom. A role model to many, Mike was a man of simple pleasures, deep pride for his country, and unwavering loyalty to his friends and family.

One of "Pops" greatest traditions was attending the annual Army/Navy game, a ritual he shared with close friends for over 20 years. That camaraderie and love of country has been passed down to their children and will no doubt continue for generations to come.

Mike lived his life with authenticity, humor, and love. His legacy is not just one of memories, but of example—a life well-lived that will remain in our hearts forever.
