Obituary

Michael 'Mike' Hayslip Turner passed quietly at his home on Monday, February 5, 2024.  Born on April 6, 1958 to the late John Turner, former Maryland racing secretary, and homemaker Ruth Hayslip Turner of Baltimore, Maryland.  Mike grew up in Guilford and graduated from Boys' Latin.  After graduation Michael joined the US Marine Corps and upon his honorable discharge as a Sergeant he went to work for the Teamsters Union.  A devout Catholic, Mike was a former member of Knights of Columbus and served as an usher at The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, his childhood parish.  Mike was an avid reader who could always be found with a book in his hand and a joke for his grandchildren.

Mike leaves behind his beloved wife of 43 years Laura, his daughters Michelle (Michael) and Elizabeth (Peter) and his sons Stephen (Jane) and Timothy (Christine) and his sister, Patricia.  He was also "silly Grandpa" to his seven grandchildren Eleanor, Lucianne, Calliope, Jacob, Michael, Eva, and Charlotte.  He was predeceased by his brothers Mark, Thomas, John and his sister Mary Lou.

The family will receive friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Thursday, February 15 from 4-8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Nativity, 20 East Ridgely Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Friday, February 16 beginning at 1 PM. Interment will be held at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please remember Mike with memorial contributions to Catholic Charities of Baltimore .
