Norma Mirasol
Inocencio
d. Mar 18, 2026
On March 18, 2026, Dr. Norma M. Inocencio passed away peacefully at the age of 79 years old surrounded by loving family.
Norma was born in Pasay City, Philippines on August 4, 1946, to Dr. German Inocencio and Dr. Olimpia Mirasol-Inocencio who were both physicians in the community. As the 3rd of 9 children, she was a quiet child growing up and followed her parents' footsteps into the healthcare field. She graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Sto. Tomas in 1971. After briefly seeing patients at the family clinic in Pasay City, she moved to the United States in 1973 where she trained and practiced as a pediatrician in Michigan until her retirement in 2021.
After completing her internship training at Christ Hospital in New Jersey and residency training at Beaumont Hospital in Michigan, Norma devoted 45 years to a distinguished career in pediatrics. She provided compassionate care in both hospital and outpatient settings, serving at Oakwood, St. Joseph Mercy and other area hospitals. For a time, she also volunteered at the Care House Child Advocacy Centre in Michigan, where she supported children who had experienced abuse—work that reflected her deep commitment to protecting and nurturing young lives.
Known lovingly as Oma, she was full of energy and lived life with unmatched enthusiasm. She was always seeking new experiences—travels, music, the arts, plants, origami, hummingbirds, penguins—her list of interests seemed endless. Whatever captured her attention, she embraced with joy and an eagerness to share it with the people she loved. Fearless and endlessly curious, Oma never allowed anything to stand in the way of her zest for life or her devotion to children.
She leaves behind her siblings Marilyn Inocencio, Jose Mari Inocencio, Cecilia Casimiro, Virgilio Inocencio, and Ricardo Inocencio, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents German and Olimpia Inocencio, her sister Mariles Inocencio, and her bothers Ramon and Antonio Inocencio.
Norma was truly one of a kind. We will deeply miss her.
