Norman
Miller
d. Mar 29, 2022
Suddenly on March 29, 2022, Norman Liese Miller departed this life for the kingdom of heaven at the age of 91 where he will join his beloved wife of 50 years, Charlotte Rose Haetler-Miller.
Norman is survived by his daughters, Patricia Hoffman and Nancy Martin and son, Michael Miller. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sean Rogers, Kelsey Gray, Allison Miller, Grace Vasquez, Olivia Martin, Evan Martin, and Brandon Eyler. Finally, Norman was blessed with great grandchildren, Courtney Rogers, Sean Rogers Jr. and Ella Vasquez.
Norman was born Norman Liese Seelig, as was his beloved late brother Curtis who, along with Norman, were adopted by Frank & Viola Miller in 1941. They were treated as little more than farm hands by the Millers, receiving nothing more than a last name and cruel treatment. By God's Grace, Norman & Curtis survived their childhood, and they both went on to eventually meet the loves of their lives, Charlotte and Matoka. The brothers forever held a special love and bond for each other which only grew as the years passed, and will continue to grow between our families. Among the last words uttered by Norman was "Charlotte and Curtis".
Norman served with distinction as a Marine during the Korean War, and he received an award from the South Korean government in the 1980s for his actions in protecting a Buddhist shrine from other United Nations soldiers who were attempting to loot and deface the shrine during the height of the conflict. Norman said that he wasn't going to allow anyone to wreck or steal from anyone's place of worship.
As a hard working family provider, Norman worked 2 jobs from the the time his first child Patty arrived in 1957 until he retired from the Baltimore Gas & Electric Company in 1991. He continued to run his sewer & drain cleaning business well into his 80s and he paid for home care for Charlotte for over 8 years until her death in 2005.
Some of Norman's defining beliefs was faith in God, love of Charlotte, work hard and do what you love, and finally, to always forgive your enemies.
The family will receive friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Sunday, April 10 from 3-5 PM with a time for eulogies at 5 PM. A Graveside Memorial Service with military honors will be held at Parkwood Cemetery on Monday, April 11 beginning at 11 AM.
