Patricia C.
Panzarella
d. Jul 1, 2026
On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Patricia Cox Panzarella peacefully passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Panzarella and her beloved cat, Joy. She was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Cox and Virginia B. Cox and was also predeceased by her brother Thomas E Cox, Jr. Survivors include many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and their families, as well as many cherished friends.
Born in Havre de Grace on July 21, 1954, Patricia graduated from the former Hannah More Academy, and she attended the University of Cincinnati before graduating from the University of Southern California. Her diverse artistic and creative talents generated a successful career as a Photo Editor with National Geographic Magazine, and also included work in network television, art galleries, and thoroughbred racing. Her love of photography, art, nature and people inspired a life-long pursuit of foreign and domestic travel which spawned thousands of images to be shared with family and friends as well as winning recognition such as the Grand Prize in the Baltimore Sun Magazine’s Annual Photography Contest. She also helped her parents with their businesses, including running the Gay 90s Bar and Ice Cream stand at the Maryland State Fair and also during events and festivals held during the 1970s revitalization of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
Patricia loved all nature, especially horses and cats. Her great sense of humor, endless generosity, caring nature and earnest joy for living earned her life-long friendships and generated countless memories for all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a date yet to be determined. Charitable contributions in Patricia’s name can be sent to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163 or to the Maryland Horse Foundation, 321 Main Street, Reisterstown, MD 21136.
