Philip "Phil" S. Diedeman, Sr. of Phoenix, Maryland passed away on June 2, 2022. He was 73 years old. Philip was the beloved son of the late Alice May (nee Becker) and Stilman Wallace Diedeman; predeceased by his wife Susan Jones; devoted father of Philip S. Diedeman, Jr. and his fiancé Lauren Guelzow; stepfather of Steven Bergman and his partner Donna Ball and Thomas Bergman and his wife Karey; dear brother of Ronald S. Diedeman; beloved brother of Debra M. Bustard and her husband Edwin; loving Pop Pop to 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Parkville Senior High School in 1968, Philip initially worked as an auto mechanic; then began his career at Ward Machinery (now BW Paper Systems) that spanned over 40 years. Philip attended night school at Towson University and earned his degree in 1990. As a young man, Philip developed a keen interest in all things mechanical and it carried over into adulthood, where he spent countless hours in his garage maintaining and rebuilding several motor vehicles, especially vintage and racing cars. A hobbyist as well, he enjoyed building models, especially model airplanes that he flew. He had a passion for bowling participating in leagues and coaching children at Timonium Bowling Center for many  years.

The family will receive friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Wednesday, June 8 from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM where a funeral service will be held Thursday, June 9 beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
