Randy Scott
Limbach
d. Mar 19, 2026
Randy Limbach, a man whose life was defined by quiet service, compassion, and steadiness, passed away on March 19, 2026, in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Raised in northeastern Ohio, he spent his life advocating for others—especially those facing hardship—meeting them with presence, dignity, and care.
Following his graduate studies at the University of Akron, Randy began his career with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during the earliest and most challenging days of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. He worked closely with those often overlooked or marginalized—individuals living with HIV/GRID and Hepatitis C, and others facing difficult circumstances.
Randy was never distant in this work. He was present, grounded, and unafraid to sit with people in their most vulnerable moments—to listen, to comfort, and, at times, simply to hold a hand. He met people where they were, always with compassion and without judgment.
Over more than a decade with the CDC, Randy worked across the country establishing systems to help control the spread of infectious diseases. His efforts took him to major urban centers including Miami, Chicago, and Los Angeles, as well as to prisons in rural Mississippi and Alabama. His work contributed in meaningful ways to the containment and treatment of communicable diseases.
In subsequent years, Randy continued his service with the United States Federal Probation and Pretrial Services. There, the same empathy and steadiness defined his work as he supported individuals navigating complex and often difficult paths. Beginning in Studio City and working throughout Los Angeles County, he rose to become a Supervisor with the United States Federal Probation Office, serving Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties along California's Central Coast.
Randy was deeply engaged with the world around him, particularly in politics and public service. Like his mother, he played an active role in civic life. He traced his lineage to some of the earliest American colonists, a heritage that deepened his love of country.
He also had a deep love for animals. Whether caring for dogs, cats, birds of prey, or farm animals, Randy approached each with patience and loving gentleness. He volunteered with wildlife rehabilitation efforts, helping injured and orphaned animals return to their natural habitats. His care was not abstract—it was hands-on, daily, and deeply felt.
In quieter moments, Randy found satisfaction in restoring homes to their original period, bringing precision, meticulous care, and thoughtful design to each project. He was known for his exacting organization—everything carefully filed and in its proper place.
Randy was the son of John P. Limbach and the late Dorothy (Limbach) Greener (née Turner). He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Louella Turner, with whom he shared a lifelong and special bond.
Randy is survived by his spouse and life partner of thirty years, Joseph Kralik; his sister, Catherine Danszczak (née Limbach); and her children, Nicole, Mallory, Jacob, and Adam. Catherine's husband, David, and their son, Ryan, predeceased him. Welcomed as one of their own by Joseph's family, Randy was deeply loved by his many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, who will miss him profoundly.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Leandro Fazolini at St. Joseph Catholic Parish, 101 Church Lane, Cockeysville, Maryland 21030 on Friday, April 24 beginning at 4:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the Maryland Masonic Homes Chapel, 300 International Circle, Cockeysville, Maryland 21030 on Saturday, April 25 from 10:00-11:00 AM with a Funeral Service officiated by Rev.
